Every year the team looks back at [Bruce's] life to find inspiration when the going gets tough.
The best thing we know about Bruce is that he was not only a driver but an engineer and designer. During a testing session he noticed the oil filler access door, behind the radiator, was flapping up and down as he drove. After realizing that the handling had improved as the air flowed into the open flap, he pulled into the pits and instructed his mechanic to grab a pair of shears, and cut out the bodywork around the access flap. Climbing back in the car, he immediately began turning lap times faster than before. Early aerodynamics was born. Bruce was famous for his meticulous hard work and his drive to find perfection in his garage and on the track. Every year the team looks back at his life to find inspiration when the going gets tough. The feats that the man achieved at such a young age are marvelous to say the least. He changed the way drivers and teams tested and tuned their cars and brought New Zealand to the forefront of the world of motorsport.
